SAN ANTONIO - Don't look now, but UTSA's Marcus Davenport is on his way to being a first round draft pick in the NFL, and a high first rounder at that.

Davenport is training for the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine in Carlsbad, California. His stock has never been higher.

This is from multiple scouts and NFL followers saying he will go in the top half of the first round.

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer writes: "You might have never heard of the guy I have to keep moving up. UTSA edge rusher Marcus Davenport is a 6' 7" freak of a receiver-turned-pass rusher. Multiple execs told me he's not getting out of the Top 15. I wound up putting him at 14, , and Davenport clearly has a chance to rise higher."

The 6-foot-7, 265-pound Davenport posted 55 tackles and set school records with 17.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and eight quarterback hurries and was recently named the 2017 Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year.

Davenport finished his UTSA career as the program’s all-time leader in tackles for loss (38.0), sacks (22.0) and QB hurries (21).
