SAN ANTONIO - Despite a very feisty Harlan team, the Southwest Dragons were able to fly away with a win Thursday night.
Southwest (8-1) won 42-35 but didn't do it easily.
After taking a quick 21-7 lead in the early parts of the second quarter, Harlan opened a bag of tricks.
The Hawks (6-4) scored two touchdowns in less than a minute of game time, tying it just before half at 21-21.
Coming out of the half, neither team seemed to want to win. A few fumbles and one score saw Southwest up 28-21. But that score woke each team up, as the back-and-forth affair continued on.
However, Southwest scored the games last two touchdowns and was able to run away and use the victory formation with less than a minute ago.
This win secured Southwest a district title. The Hawks can make the playoffs with a win next week.
