SAN ANTONIO - We've got a double dose of Thursday Night Lights this week.
Medina Valley and Veterans Memorial in the regular Thursday night time slot, and the district opener for Steele and East Central on Friday night.
Veterans Memorial has a young team, but seems to be growing up rather quickly.
After losing 35-0 to Boerne in their opener, the Patriots defeated Leander Glenn 33-13 last week.
Veterans Memorial head coach Richard Mendoza is pleased with how his team is able to stay in the moment.
Medina Valley is coming off a nice 23-7 win over Southwest Legacy last week after losing 28-7 to New Braunfels Canyon in its season opener.
Head Coach Lee Crisp says there are plenty of things his Panthers team need to clean up headed into Thursday's game.
"We've got to find our rhythm offensively, continue to play good defense and clean up the special teams game and we'll have a chance," he said. "They run a good program, coach Mendoza is a good friend of mine and looking forward to the challenge and figuring out what we need to do to continue to get better after this game."
And a special Friday Night version of Thursday Night Lights will feature Cibolo Steele on the road against East Central. Both teams are looking to get into the win column. That game starts at 7 p.m. Friday night on The CW 35.
