San Antonio Spurs rookie Jaron Blossomgame knows where his bread might be buttered next season and is saying the right things.

In an interview with Spurs.com, Jaron was asked about his game. He likened it to Spurs star Kawhi Leonard and heaped praise on his new teammate.

“It will be really good, to be a rookie and come in and see how he approaches everyday, how hard he works and for him to be a big brother to me.”

“I look up to him as a player.”

“Before the combine last year I was looking at his college statistics, to see how similar ours were, and they were pretty similar as far as shooting.”

“I remember comparing myself to Kawhi during the Spurs interview and they all laughed.”

Not a bad player to compare himself to but he has a long way to go to prove he belongs in the NBA.

Jaron's NBA journey will begin later this month as the Spurs will open camp and he'll finally get to play with and against Kawhi to really see where his game stacks up.

Keep in mind, he'll be playing mostly in the G-League in Austin as he did sign a G-League deal in the summer. However, Jaron will get the opportunity to pick Kawhi's basketball mind and learn from the best.

As far as those college shooting stats Blossomgame mentioned, Kawhi shot 44.9% from the field and 25% from the 3-point line in his career at San Diego State. Jaron shot 48.7% from the field and 31.5% from the 3-point line during his time in Clemson.
