The NBA, Adam Silver, Houston's general manager Daryl Morey and China have been in the middle of a controversy.

Morey showed support for anti-government protesters in China in a tweet. That single tweet sparked China to cancel NBA events leading Silver to make public statements on the issue. In his latest one, Silver supported the NBA's stand on freedom of speech and for Morey's right to do so.

Prior to the San Antonio Spurs preseason match versus the Miami Heat, head coach Gregg Popovich applauded Silver's response echoing the message on the right to free speech as well as recognizing the economic position the league was in.

"Freedom of speech - it felt great again," Popovich said.
