In the summer if 1999, the San Antonio Spurs selected Argentinian guard Manu Ginobili with their 57th pick overall. That selection would go on to be one of the greatest late-round picks in NBA history.
21 years ago today, the Spurs selected Ginobili where he would become a franchise legend.
Ginobili would go on to become one of the greatest player in Spurs franchise history.
After making his way to the NBA in the 2002-03 season, he would go on to become a 2-time NBA All-Star, a 4-time NBA champion, and the 2008 NBA Sixth Man of the Year.
He would introduce the NBA to the "Eurostep" which has been imitated by many players.
On 27 August 2018, Ginobili announced his retirement from basketball and on March 2019, the Spurs retired his No. 20 jersey where it hangs next to his long-time teammates who formed the Spurs "Big 3" era - Tony Parker and Tim Duncan.
There is no doubt he will be joining the Basketball Hall of Fame once he is eligible.
