According to a report, San Antonio Spurs' Derrick White has been promoted from the USA Select Team to the USA National Team for the upcoming 2019 FIBA World Cup in China.

White has been receiving high praise for his play from individuals at the mini-camp in Las Vegas.

He has been leading the Select Team against the National squad in some intense practices on the court which caught the attention of teammate Brook Lopez.

"Derrick White and Trae Young have both been impressive in leading the teams, being the floor generals at such a young age," said Lopez to reporters via USA Basketball.

White performed well at the Team USA-Team Select scrimmage in Las Vegas.

He finished with 12 points, three rebounds, eight assists, two steals and went 4-4 from the free-throw line in 24 minutes in a 97-78 loss.

White will be traveling with Team USA to Los Angeles as training camp continues.
