SAN ANTONIO - As good as O'Connor was a season ago, they look even better now.
Millard Bradford was all over the field, scoring on a 34-yard touchdown strike and nearly adding a second TD on special teams to lead the Panthers (2-0) to a 45-14 win over the Chargers (1-1) on Thursday Night Lights from Comalander Stadium.
With O'Connor up 3-0 in the first, defensive lineman Marcus Guerra blocked a Churchill field goal attempt. Bradford batted the ball away from the offense and scooped it up for what looked like a 56-yard touchdown, but he dropped the ball before the goal line. Teammate Grayson Lee fell on the ball for the score to give the Panthers a 10-0 lead.
Down 17-0 in the second, Churchill finally got on the board in a big way.
QB Derek Perez hit Malik Fletcher on the first of his two scores for a 74-yard touchdown pass to but the Panther lead down to 10.
But Bradford responded with a score with six seconds to go before halftime to extend the lead to 24-7.
O'Connor outscored Churchill 21-7 in the second half en route to the victory.
The Panthers tallied 234 yards rushing and 424 total yards, while Churchill was limited to just 74 yards rushing and 257 total yards in the game.
