Many were shocked when San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan decided to come out of retirement and become the new assistant coach for the Spur.

Including another Spurs legend - David Robinson.

Robinson was a guest on ESPN's "The Jump" an explained why Duncan makes perfect sense on the bench guiding the young Spurs on the roster.

"It's not that he is isn't vocal.
He's great with the guys and he projects a confidence.
He brings professionalism. He brings a focus. Kind of like Pop. A no nonsense kind of mentality.
I think that's going to play on those young guys because that's the thing we're missing right now - that leadership in that locker room to make sure that hey... let's take this to the next level.
He's going to be a great influence in that locker room.

Since retiring, Duncan has been a fixture in practices, training camps and more. It made perfect sense to simply pay him for what he has been doing.

With Duncan back, the younger Spurs will benefit tremendously from his Hall of Fame career. They will be able to pick his brain, lean on him when things get rough during the grind of an NBA season and more.
