SAN ANTONIO - For a rivalry game that is emotionally charged for all the sports reasons, Thursday's Clark vs Churchill showdown had a different feel; at least before they kicked off.

The game was the season debut for Church's Chicken Thursday Night Lights on CW35.

The Chargers will honor Josh Pollard all season by taking their captain's number 12 jersey to midfield for the coin toss, and each player will wear the number 12 on the side of his helmet.

What a start for Churchill. Diego vela runs straight ahead; nothing there, so he backtracks, and nothing but open field to the goal line to make it 6-0 Churchill. Clark would take the lead when Jake Stewart scores on the QB keeper. But just before half, it's Churchill again. This time, Jordan Billups hits Jacob Grofff, and he lunges into the endzone. 13-7 Chargers at half. They take a commanding lead in the 3rd. This time Billups finds Malik Fletcher for a 13 yard TD. The Chargers win the Gucci bowl. The final 33-14.
