Hundreds of people in Ohio found purple water running out of their faucets on Monday, the result of a pump malfunction.

The city of Coal Grove said it's possible too much sodium permanganate was dumped into the water, causing the purple color.

Officials said the purple water is not hazardous, though it might stain clothing.

Residents have been told to run the water until the color goes away.
