WASHINGTON (SBG) — Amazon is testing a new robot that can deliver packages straight to your door.

And while it may look like a runaway cooler on wheels, the technology is proving to be progressive.

It's called the "Amazon Scout."

The company is testing the robots in the state of Washington and California, but is now expanding field-testing to Atlanta and Franklin, Tennessee, about 30 minutes south of Nashville.

“We are delighted to welcome Amazon Scout into our community. Similar to Amazon, we are always looking for new ways to better deliver service to our residents," an excerpt from an Amazon press release reads.

"Scout" has the ability to detour around all sorts of obstacles on sidewalks and moves at a walking pace. The fully electric delivery system will help the company meet its goal for net-zero carbon efficiency by 2040, according to Amazon.
