JUPITER, Fla. (WPEC) -- Second graders at Turtle River Montesorri in Jupiter, Florida are on a special assignment to make kids feel loved.

They are sending letters of support to Bahamian kids displaced by Hurricane Dorian.

Some letters will go to the island and others will go to children who already relocated to Palm Beach County in Florida.

One reads, “Dear friend, I am so sorry your houses got wrecked by the storm. I am happy you are safe in Florida. Me and my mommy donated money to you.”

Another reads, “Dear friend, I am so sorry your home got destroyed. We will do anything for you. And write a note back if you need anything.”

They may be young, but they understand just how hard it is to start all over.

The images they’ve seen on television have stuck with them. But they draw rainbows and hearts in hopes that it spreads a little cheer.
