U.S. News & World Report's 2018 Best Places to Live in the United States ranks San Antonio at number 14.
“San Antonio is as comfortable as an old pair of jeans. It offers big-city amenities and world-renowned attractions coupled with a relaxed and inviting atmosphere,” is how the magazine described the Alamo City.
The list ranks the country's 125 largest metropolitan areas based on affordability, job prospects and quality of life. The ranking is determined in part by a public survey of thousands of people across the nation. The survey takes into account qualities that people find most important in a home town. Data from the United States Census Bureau, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Labor Statistics are also used in their methodology when making the list.
The magazine also ranks San Antonio as the third best place to retire.
