SAN ANTONIO - The Power Rangers are coming to the Alamo City.

The Morphinominal Expo, South Texas' first free Power Rangers convention, is scheduled for Sept. 2-3 at the Wonderland of Americas Mall.

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers exploded onto the scene back in 1993 and was a pop culture phenomenon with a whole line of toys and an incredibly popular series.

If you are not well versed in Power Rangers...they are a team of youths recruited and trained by a mentor to morph into the eponymous Power Rangers, able to utilize special powers and pilot immense assault machines, called Zords, to overcome the periodic antagonists. In the original series Mighty Morphin, the wizard Zordon recruits "teenagers with attitude" against Rita Repulsa.

When "morphed," the rangers become powerful superheroes wearing color-coded skin-tight spandex suits and helmets with opaque visors; identical except in individual rangers' color and helmet design and each posses super abilities like strength, agility or other superhuman abilities.

There will be appearances from the Power Rangers franchise including Andrew Gray, Power Rangers Megaforce Red Ranger, Reggie Rolle, Lost Galaxy Green Ranger, Justin Nimmo, Silver Ranger from Power Rangers in Space, and Amy Rolle, Trakeena, the villainess from Power Rangers Lost Galaxy.
