SAN ANTONIO - Happy New Year, pet owners! Did you know we choose a Pet of the Week every Monday?
We search through the hundreds of pet photos we receive in Chime In and choose just one to give the honorary title of Pet of the Week. Nothing is won with the title except bragging rights for the week. Share your beloved pet photos with us and tell us what makes them so special and your pet could be chosen next!
This week we chose Simon, a very fluffy 6-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi shared with us by his human, Dina Hall.
Dina tells us she got Simon as a puppy when he was just 12 weeks old from his Corgi mom in Wisconsin. Her son chose the name Simon because it sounded very regal and British.
Every morning Simon starts his day with a morning Smart Smile, to keep his teeth pearly white.
"Simon is really loving a new toy he got from Santa that is a popcorn box with little popcorn kernels that hide inside," said Dina. He loves to squeak and crinkle it!"
Like most dogs, Simon is very protective of his human and sleeps under Dina's bed every night. He also likes to lay spread out on his back, with his tummy in the air.
Simon can't really do any tricks but he does love to chase after birds and go swimming.
"He finally started to like swimming in ponds or creeks, never the pool, but when he swims, his fluffy bum floats on top," said Dina. Cheeky monkey!
According to the American Kennel Club, "The Pembroke is a bright, sensitive dog who enjoys play with his human family and responds well to training. As herders bred to move cattle, they are fearless and independent. They are vigilant watchdogs, with acute senses and a “big dog” bark. Families who can meet their bold but kindly Pembroke’s need for activity and togetherness will never have a more loyal, loving pet."
Simon says send in your pet photos and your pet could be chosen next!
