SAN ANTONIO - The Pearl Brewery has been a huge part of San Antonio over the past 100 years.
The grounds operated as a brewery from 1883 to 2001. It began producing bottles and wooden kegs of Pearl beer in 1886.
The brewery even managed to stay open during prohibition as the Alamo Foods Company, bottling near beer and soft drinks and even running an auto repair shop. It's been through many more changes over the years.
The 22-acre site is now home to a number of businesses -- including Hotel Emma in the old brewhouse; the Culinary Institute of America, a year-round farmers market and a brew pub called Southerleigh.
