SAN ANTONIO - Texas Governor Greg Abbott wants every Texan to get a flu shot.

In a new public service announcement released Tuesday, Abbott says getting a flu shot is especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it may help keep hospitalizations down.

"Flu season is already here, and that means we all need to take extra care to stay healthy. That's why I urge every Texan to go get a flu shot. I got mine today," says Abbott in the video. "I can tell you it is the best way to reduce your chances of contracting and spreading the flu. So protect yourself and loved ones this flu season and get a flu shot today."

We also learned that San Antonio Metro Health plans to offer free flu shot vaccines once they are available. The shots will be free of charge to anyone who wants it, whether they have insurance or not.
