SAN ANTONIO - Expect to see more public art displays around San Antonio. City leaders plan to unveil a set of murals on the South Side near the historic San Antonio missions.

The four murals are located on concrete panels under Loop 410 at Villamain, between Mission Espada and Mission San Juan. All of San Antonio's missions are a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The murals depict the four seasons of San Antonio and were painted by local artists. They show the history of plants and wildlife in the area.

"Instead of just having these blank concrete walls, (we figured) what if we put some creativity, imagination and public art on it that tells the story of our world heritage city," said District 3 councilwoman Rebecca Viagran. "Because of that, we had a lot of partners and a lot of artists participated in each of the seasons."

The dedication ceremony starts on Wednesday at 9 a.m. and will include a blessing by Native Americans.
