More than 50 years after opening the first of many Rios Golden Cut salons, owner Ben E. Rios, Sr. has died.

The company released a statement that Rios died on Wednesday morning.

Rios was born in 1933 and opened the very first Rios Golden Cut in 1964, after returning from the Korean War.

"He was a great businessman who cared for his employees and for his community," said Eric Rios, CEO/President. "His dedication, work ethic and ideals influenced every aspect of the success we have today."

Rios, the largest family-owned salon in Bexar County, currently operates 30 locations.
