SAN ANTONIO - A local firefighter who jumped in to help a police officer who was struggling with a suspect was presented with a merit award on Wednesday for his heroic efforts.

According to the San Antonio Fire Department's Facebook page, the unidentified officer was at Public Safety Headquarters on South Santa Rosa Street when someone came to the lobby and asked for assistance.

At some point, the officer began to struggle with the officer and that's when Firefighter Justin Hill ran down from the second floor and jumped in to help the officer subdue the stranger.

This week, Hill was presented with an award by the San Antonio Police Department for coming to the aide of the officer.
