Evidence of a growing local economy is on display at construction sites throughout Fort Pierce.

The skyline of the coastal city that shoulders the Indian River Lagoon is changing.

Talks of a new downtown hotel, waterfront two-story seafood restaurant, and state-of-the-art facility for yacht repair are floating around Fort Pierce.

Some neighbors say it's a second chance for the historic city.

Fort Pierce has seen the job market increase by 2.0% over the last year, according bestplace.com

Future job growth over the next ten years is predicted to be 36.0%, which is higher than the US average of 33.5%.

But the unemployment rate remains higher than the nation's average.

Some Fort Pierce residents who live more inland say the economic boom needs to stretch beyond the downtown area.
