SAN ANTONIO - The Bexar County Sheriff's Office will send ten deputies to Houston to help the police department patrol the streets there.

Since Harvey hit, officers have been working around the clock. The deputies will provide the overworked officers some much-needed relief.

Last week, members of the San Antonio police and fire departments went to Houston to give their support as well.

Sheriff Salazar said each deputy will be paired with a Houston officer, since many of that department's fleet of vehicles were wiped out by floodwaters.

He added that he went on a similar mission in the aftermath of Ike and saw officers who continued to work as their own homes were destroyed by that storm.
