A teacher in central Florida caused a bit of a panic at a high school in New Smyrna.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, the teacher brought a model rifle to class to show to students.
Investigators said the sight of it caused some concern by someone who didn't know it was a fake.
It drew a quick response by deputies and school security.
The district sent a message to parents about the incident and removed the teacher from the classroom. She is on paid leave.
The sheriff's office wanted to remind folks it's not a good idea to bring this type of item to any school campus.
